Vibes: SMILING THROUGH IT ALL ππ€΄πΎπ
This isn't a sports newsletter but it was hard to miss the buzz that culminated last week with LeBron announcing that he was bringing his talents to Cleveland Miami Philadelphia. Bron's decision reminded me of the peak memeage of the 2010s.
It's wild out here and sometimes we gotta keep smiling through it all π. More in the Recharge section for us to support each other

Extreme Heat Is Making Us Sadder (And Sicker) by Yessenia Funes for Possibilities News
The Take: [CONTENT WARNING: This article mentions heavy issues related to mental health and suic*de]
The climate crisis taxes us all - heavily. Whether its awaking to orange skies produced by Canadian wildfires, dealing with the aftermath of flooding, the unrelenting opression of a heatwave in a society without the proper care infrastructure, or even the constant existential dread - many of us are pushed to the edge of our limits. I deeply appreciated this article's candor in addressing what is often still a taboo in many spaces. In short, people are hurting right now and in many ways. The author's charge to us all:
"We need each other more than ever, but how do we connect? How do we protect the ones prone to despair? We can't stop the disaster that's unfolding before us. Monster wildfires, droughts, and storms are here. How do we stay sane in the face of all this?"
"Community is the only way to survive this cruel yet generous world. It's how humans have survived much, much worse. So please log off, touch grass, and go hold someone's hand. Your soul commands it. π"

You may have noticed that I haven't sent one of these newsletters in a few weeks. I've been dealing with my own turbulence, learning to re-engage and fight the inclination to self-isolate and overextend (bad combo, don't recommend) π πΎββοΈ.
I've recently been reminded of the wisdom from one our ancestors, Audre Lorde from her work work, "A Burst of Light//And Other Essays. In this incredibly vulnerable writing, one of the chapters titled: "Living With Cancer" she provides the following reflection:
"I had to examine, in my dreams as well as in my immune-function tests, the devastating effects of overextension. Overextending myself is not stretching myself.
I had to accept how difficult it is to monitor the difference. Necessary for me as cutting down on sugar. Crucial. Physically. Psychically.
Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare"

Here's a link to learn more about Lorde's work. Will need to purchase(or use your public library to read this work)
